What it does
Superpowers changes how Claude starts a coding job. Instead of jumping into code, it asks what you are really trying to build, then shows you the design in short chunks to sign off on.
Next it writes a step-by-step plan and works through it with test-first development, reviewing each task as it goes. The skills trigger on their own, so you do not need to remember any commands.
Install it
- Open Claude Code.
- Install the plugin from Anthropic's official marketplace with the command below.
- Start a new session so the skills load.
Copy this
/plugin install superpowers@claude-plugins-official
Install from the Superpowers marketplace instead
- Register the marketplace: /plugin marketplace add obra/superpowers-marketplace
- Install the plugin: /plugin install superpowers@superpowers-marketplace
Use it
- Describe something you want to build. The brainstorming skill kicks in and asks questions before any code is written.
- Approve the design, then the plan. Say "go" and it works through the tasks, writing failing tests first and reviewing between tasks.
- If a session misbehaves, ask: "figure out what went wrong with superpowers in this session".
Good to know
Superpowers also installs in Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI and several other coding agents. Install it separately for each one.
The optional visual companion loads a logo from the makers' website, which tells them which version you use. Set the environment variable SUPERPOWERS_DISABLE_TELEMETRY to any true value to turn that off.
