What it does

A skill is a SKILL.md file of instructions that teaches your coding agent a specific task. This command-line tool finds and installs them for you.

Search for skills by keyword, install any skill from a GitHub repo with one command, then list, update or remove what you have. It works with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode and many other agents. You can also browse skills at skills.sh.

How to use it

  1. Open your terminal. Nothing to install first: npx runs the tool directly.
  2. Search for a skill by keyword with the first command below, or run npx skills find on its own for an interactive search.
  3. Install the one you want with npx skills add and the repo name. Add -g to make it available in all your projects instead of just this one.
  4. Open Claude Code. The new skill is ready to use.

Search for skills

Terminal
npx skills find typescript

Install a skill (example)

Terminal
npx skills add vercel-labs/agent-skills

Handy commands

  1. See what a repo contains before installing: npx skills add vercel-labs/agent-skills --list
  2. List what you have installed: npx skills list
  3. Update everything: npx skills update
  4. Remove one: npx skills remove web-design-guidelines

Good to know

By default skills install into the current project. Use -g (global) to install them for your user account instead.

The CLI collects anonymous usage data. Set DISABLE_TELEMETRY=1 or DO_NOT_TRACK=1 to turn it off.
