What it does

Instatic is a website builder and content management system (CMS) you host yourself. A single server runs the visual canvas editor, your content, media, user accounts, forms, plugins and the publisher.

Published pages are plain HTML and compact CSS, with no framework code left in. It includes an AI agent that builds pages as real, editable blocks on the canvas. You bring your own model: Claude, OpenAI, OpenRouter or local Ollama.

Install it

  1. Easiest: use the one-click Railway deploy (linked below). Pick the SQLite template for a single site such as a blog, portfolio or small business.
  2. Click deploy and wait about two minutes. Railway creates the secret keys, storage and health checks for you. You never open a terminal.
  3. Open your new site and follow the first-visit setup to create your site and owner account.

Or run it on your computer

  1. Install Bun 1.4.1 or newer (run bun upgrade if yours is older).
  2. Run the commands below, then open http://localhost:5173 and follow the setup.

Copy this

Terminal
git clone https://github.com/corebunch/instatic.git
cd instatic
bun install
bun run dev

Use it

  1. Drag modules (text, images, buttons, forms and more) onto the canvas and edit several screen sizes side by side.
  2. Describe a page to the AI agent and it builds it as editable blocks.
  3. Paste raw HTML, or drop in a whole static site, and Super Import turns it into editable pages.

Good to know

Instatic is version 0.0.x. The README says APIs and workflows may still change before 1.0. To back up a site, back up the database (the SQLite file or a Postgres dump) and the uploads folder. Updating is a redeploy of the latest image.
