What it does
JARVIS is a voice layer on top of Claude Code. You talk to him in the browser. He brainstorms a project with you one question at a time, writes the agreed design into your project as a file, then starts a real Claude Code session and drives it through plan, review and build.
He also watches every Claude Code session on your Mac and says out loud when one is stuck waiting for you. A dashboard shows runs, sessions, memory, specs and how much of your subscription is used.
Install it
- Make sure Claude Code is installed and you have run claude once and logged in.
- Download the project and install its parts with the first block below.
- Open the new .env file and set FISH_API_KEY to your Fish Audio key. This is required.
- Generate the local security certificates with the second block. They are not optional.
- Start it in two terminal windows with the third block.
1. Download and install
git clone https://github.com/ethanplusai/jarvis.git jarvis cd jarvis cp .env.example .env pip install -r requirements.txt python -m playwright install chromium cd frontend && npm install && cd ..
2. Generate certificates
openssl req -x509 -newkey rsa:2048 -keyout key.pem -out cert.pem -days 365 -nodes -subj '/CN=localhost'
3. Start it (two terminals)
python server.py --host 127.0.0.1 # terminal 1 cd frontend && npm run dev # terminal 2
Use it
- Open Chrome at http://localhost:5173, click the page once to allow audio, and start talking.
- Describe something you want to build and answer his questions until you agree on an approach.
- Ask: which of my sessions are waiting on me?
- Open http://localhost:5173/dashboard.html to watch runs and usage.
Good to know
macOS only, and Chrome only, because the microphone uses a Chrome speech feature. JARVIS runs on your Claude subscription and removes any Anthropic API key from its environment, so there is no API bill. The one paid part is Fish Audio for the voice. Without that key he goes silent and replies as text.
It acts with your full authority: builds run Claude Code with permissions skipped. Read the README section "What this trusts, and why" before running it. If the mic stops working, check that the dev server did not move to a different port. Free for personal, non-commercial use; commercial use needs a license.
